Susan Kramer MP for Richmond Park

Let me know your views about the future of the Stag Brewery

Following the announcement by InBev concerning their proposed plan to close the Stag Brewery in Mortlake at the end of 2010 Susan Kramer called a public meeting in order to hear local residents views.

Many people said they wanted to see brewing continue, and were concerned about the loss of jobs and the loss of brewing in the area. This page is chance for people to express their views about what they think should happen to the site if the planned closure goes ahead.

The ideas for put forward at the public meeting were:

· Tourist attraction - a Museum which could house the Mortlake Tapestry, Blacksmiths, or a museum based on the Global history of brewing.

· Community centre

· Ice Rink

· Residential use.

Current planning guidelines say that the site is for the use of brewing only and that this would be updated once the future of the brewery becomes more clear. Importantly the playing fields on the site are protected as an open area of Townscape importance.
