MP CALLS FOR LOCAL PARTNERS FOR SHENE ACADEMY5.27.16pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 10th Aug 2009 Richmond Borough Council has announced that Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) has been chosen to sponsor a new academy at Shene School. Susan Kramer MP is seeking a meeting with the sponsors to discuss the way forward for the school and to emphasise the importance of engaging the community in the plans. Commenting on the announcement, Susan Kramer said, "Now that we have a new sponsor, I am urging the council to find local partners to work with the school. We need respected local educational institutions to come on board to help improve Shene. "I am asking Academies Enterprise Trust to make it their priority to spend time with local parents to understand their hopes for the future shape of the school. "It is absolutely vital that the new sponsor earns the confidence of the local community, and recognises the improvements already underway at Shene. "I am repeating my call for the Government to hand back power over these kinds of decisions to local communities. It should be local people making decisions about our schools, not the Government."
