EXPRESS YOUR VIEWS ON NORTH KINGSTON SECONDARY PLANS - KRAMER2.46.23pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 13th Jul 2009 Susan Kramer, MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston has encouraged local people to have their say on plans for expansion of secondary schools in North Kingston. Following a search for potential sites, Kingston Council is proposing to create a new eight form entry co-educational school in North Kingston for pupils aged 11 -18 years. Pupils aged 11 -16 years would be located on the North Kingston Centre site on Richmond Road, with the school's post-16 provision located on the nearby Hawker Centre site Susan Kramer MP commented: "These really are the least worst options, in a situation where we are really short of possible sites. It is really important that people come forward and suggest any potential sites that may have been missed. "The Kingston Centre and the Hawker Centre are both used a great deal by the local community, and it is really important that facilities for local people continue to be available. "I will continue to pressure the Government to allow the local authority to put in the final bid for funding for the expansion. "Please do come to the public meeting on 22nd July to express your views on the potential plans, or go to www.kingston.gov.uk/secondary_expansion." The consultation process is open until 17th August 2009. Residents and businesses are invited to a public meeting on 22 July (7.00pm) with the Director of Learning & Children's Services at The Hawker Centre, Lower Ham Road KT2 5BH to discuss the plans.
