AVOID HOLIDAY MOBILE BILL BLUES THIS SUMMER - KRAMER

4.29.42pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 28th Jul 2008

Susan Kramer MP has warned Richmond and North Kingston holiday makers about the hidden charges that can be incurred when using mobile phones abroad.

Susan Kramer MP commented:

"With more and more holiday makers using their mobiles to call from abroad, and using mobile modems for internet access, it can be very easy to rack up big mobile bills without knowing."

"While most people know how their tariff or price plan works at home in the UK, these charges may change quite drastically when mobile phones are used abroad."

"New advice published by Ofcom advises holidaymakers about how to avoid any unexpected charges while using their mobile phones abroad. Holidaymakers are advised to check with their mobile phone service provider about any overseas charges, and remember that extra charges may apply for receiving voicemails."

"Internet downloads in particular can be significantly more abroad than at home, and it may be worth holidaymakers checking if their service provider offers any international packages before they go."
