MP SUPPORTS CALL FOR HIGH-SPEED RAIL EXPANSION

Susan Kramer MP has expressed her support for a new study published by the 2M group that shows high-speed rail could replace most domestic flights.

Susan Kramer commented:

"I find it disturbing that domestic aviation is the fastest growing sector of the aviation industry. This is simply a topsy-turvy approach when high speed rail could plug the gap."

"Government thinking must be reversed, and we must have high speed rail to serve the country. Faster rail would remove the need for most domestic flights, and would provide a workable solution to aviation."

"It is simply appalling to build a 'white elephant' expanded Heathrow at the same time as we are about to move into the era of a revived and expanded rail service."
