MP meets parents to discuss latest updates on Kingston primary school admissions10.41.30am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 17th Jun 2008 Susan Kramer MP joined Edward Davey MP, local councillors and many local parents at Kingston Council's meeting on 12 June to hear the latest update on primary school admissions. Kramer said:"Parents who do not yet have an offer in one of their preferred schools are upset and frustrated as I would be if my child was in this situation. Hopefully, as this week progresses and as parents holding 2 school place offers make their final choice, these 59 parents will have a school they want. "But this process has been agony. The Council must follow through on its promise to set earlier dates for all the key steps in school applications so that we never go through this chaos again. And it must make a decision in early autumn if we need to build a new primary school. "But the Government in Westminster must wake up as well. The rules it sets for admissions are so cumbersome that they have made this process far worse than it needs to be. Trying to work out which school to apply for is now more complex than a "killer" SUDOKU game. "And Government must reverse the Greenwich judgement which prevents children in the borough from getting priority in school places."
